County residents invited to be part of state-sponsored photo shoot

The Greene County Economic Development & Tourism Office is inviting county residents to participate in a professional photo shoot to promote the Vietnam War Foundation Museum (VWF).

The shoot, intended to help showcase the VWF as a year-round tourist destination, is scheduled for 10 am Tuesday, February 5, will be done by Sarah Hauser, a Virginia Tourism Corporation photographer.

“Our purpose for visiting the museum is to build images showcasing tourist destinations that are great for all seasons, including winter when there are not as many outdoor activities taking place,”Hauser says.

Pictures taken during the photo shoot will be used on Virginia Tourism Corporation’s website, in their print marketing advertising and other marketing material.

“We are pleased to have the VWF recognized by the state as one of our tourism gems, says Tony Williams, director of Economic Development & Tourism for Greene County. “The founding members have put in a lot of work and I’m certain this is one of many great marketing opportunities coming their way.”

Located less than a mile from Route 29 in Ruckersville, the VWF has been a hot spot for local residents, tourists, schools and veterans from across the country. In addition to the scheduled photo shoot, the VWF is one of the few destinations of the Virginia Motorcoach Operators Annual Retreat for 2013, which takes place the following week.

The VWF is a 501 (c) (3) whose mission is accomplished through the acquisition, restoration and maintenance of historic vehicles, era memorabilia, artifacts, weapons, and civilian and “peace” symbols of the Vietnam Era.
